FUNERAL PROGRAM SERVICE, Sometimes called the Funeral Program or Memorial Bulletin, the funeral document describes the order of events at the funeral or memorial service. A funeral program is a small booklet, which typically contains the deceased’s memorial, as well as details about what is going to happen at a funeral or memorial service. A funeral plan is not required, but most people prefer to provide one because it helps those attending the funeral or memorial service to follow along and attend more fully.
A funeral or memorial services program will include a scheduled schedule of planned events. You should consult the funeral or memorial site to make any individual requests, but generally, a funeral ceremony may have more personalizations. The obituary included with a memorial services schedule may be slightly more detailed than what you might post in a newspaper or on a funeral home’s website.
Once you collect the personal information, photos of your loved one, and an Order of Service from the funeral director, you can start writing your funeral service program. A standard funeral service program typically includes the photograph, the obituary, the Order of Service, as well as the funeral poem or Scripture, which typically goes on the final page. Typically, the funeral service program is presented as a brochure, showing the order of events to be held. You might also hear a funeral program call this an Order of Services, or Memorial Packet.
