DEALING WITH DEATH
There is no medical prescription for dealing with death. Similarly, there is no set time frame for completing the grieving process. For some individuals, grief will be a life altering change. Religious affiliations will often suggest certain coping techniques that can assist in dealing with the loss of a loved one. For example, Jewish families wear kriah. Do not hesitate to ask your religious leader for assistance on how to deal with death. They are used to answering these types of questions.
It can be difficult to learn how to go about your life without the presence of a loved one. There is no set amount of time for the adjustment period. Common feelings that you may experience during this time include anger, shame, guilt, anxiety, sleeplessness, and regret. These feelings are normal, and as the grieving process runs its course, they will begin to dissipate naturally. What is not normal are thoughts of hurting yourself or uncontrollable bouts of anger. If you are experiencing such reaction, then you need to seek professional help.
